What Happens When There Are Not Enough Court Reporters?

“The nation’s courtrooms are critically short of court reporters. And already it is causing delays in hearings and trials. The decline has been sudden and sharp; there are 18 percent fewer reporters than there were in May 2018. And there is no reason to think that a wave of new reporters is waiting to take those jobs. The dropout rate at court reporter schools is infamously high.
